During the packaging process of meat, fish and poultry products, protein contamination often ends up on the sealing flange. This contamination creates a barrier between the tray and the top web.
The result: weak seals, leakage, rejected packs on the filling line and reduced shelf life. Traditionally, this is solved by adding a PE sealing layer or adhesive coating, but this negatively impacts recyclability.
Piranha™ addresses the problem directly at the sealing flange. The tray features a specially engineered raised-tooth sealing profile. Contamination is displaced into small channels, leaving clean contact points available for sealing.
This allows the PET top web to bond properly without a PE layer or adhesive coating. The result is a mono-PET MAP tray that delivers reliable sealing performance and is suitable for recycling into food-grade rPET.

The sealing flange of Piranha™ features a specially engineered raised-tooth profile. During the sealing process, protein contamination is not spread across the entire sealing area, but displaced into small channels between the raised structures.
The peaks remain clean and make direct contact with the PET top web, creating a strong and reliable seal without the need for an additional PE layer or adhesive coating.
According to the technical design, Piranha™ uses a raised-tooth sealing flange that redirects contamination away from the sealing surface, leaving clean contact points for direct bonding with the PET top web.
